Bob Armstrong (member since 2003)

Bob lives in Mount Forest and is an active member of the Mount Forest Ducks Unlimited Banquet Committee. Bob is an avid outdoor enthusiast who is also a certified hunter safety instructor.

Jim Cayford (member since 2003)

Jim is a retired forester with the Canadian Forest Service who has been active as a volunteer board member with the Eastern Ontario Model Forest. Jim lives in Guelph.

Drew Cherry (vice chair, member since 2001)

Drew is a former Supervisor with the Ministry of Natural Resources. He is a member of the Mill Creek Rehabilitation Working Group and Grand River Fisheries Plan Implementation Committee.

Jim Coats (member since 2003)

Jim is a retired forester who was the Executive Director of the Ontario Forestry Association for almost 40 years. He currently lives in Guelph.

John Dadds (past chair and founding member)

John is a Director of Friends of the Grand River and a member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Fly Fishers. He is also a freelance outdoors writer and outdoor columnist for the Guelph Mercury.

Paul Day (chair and founding member)

Paul is a retired Faculty Member of Conestoga College, School of Business. He is a landowner and dedicated land steward who lives near Goldstone in Mapleton (former Peel) Township.

Todd Smith (member since 2002)

Todd lives in Rockwood, and is an environmental enforcement officer in the Town of Caledon.

Fred Stahlbaum (member since 2000)

Fred is retired from ABB and lives on a rural property in the Township of Guelph-Eramosa. He is a concerned citizen, an avid fisherman and a member of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters.

Kristine Thususka (member since 2003)

Kristine is an environmental lawyer who lives in Guelph.

John Urquhart (member since 2002)

John is an environmental science student at the University of Guelph. He started his association with the WCSC as a co-op stewardship assistant in 2001. He found the work so rewarding, that he decided to stay on as a council member.

Mark Van Patter (past chair and founding member)

Mark is a Senior Planner with the County of Wellington. He is also a past president of the Speed River Land Trust.

Peter Williams (founding member)

Peter is a Registered Professional Forester and principal of Williams & Associates Forestry & Environmental Consultants Ltd. He is a woodlot owner in the Township of Guelph-Eramosa, and is the chair of the Waterloo-Wellington Woodlot Owners Association.

Bronwynne Wilton (member since 2002)

Bronwynne lives in Elora and is currently a PhD student in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development at the University of Guelph. Bronwynne was a former staff member of the Elora Centre for Environmental Excellence

Associate Members



The Terms of Reference for the WCSC stipulates that individuals who are unable to attend regular monthly council meetings, but who are interested in getting involved in council activities, can become associate members. Associate members receive monthly meeting agendas and newsletters, and are encouraged to get involved in one or more projects. They attend council meetings when they are able, however they are not allowed to vote on council issues. Associates of the 2004 council are:

Robert Musselman (founding member)

Robert is a dairy and beef farmer who lives near Elora in the Township of Centre Wellington. Robert's farm hosted the International Plowing Match and Farm Machinery Show in 2000.

Sheila Pease (member since 2002)

Sheila is a forestry consultant who lives in Kitchener.

Rob Stovel (member since 1999)

Rob is a private planning & environmental consultant and principal of Stovel & Associates. Rob lives in Fergus.

Scott Thayer (member since 1999)

Scott works for Denso in Mississauga. He is an active angler and hunter.

Agency Assistance:

Chris Powell (GRCA)

Chris is a Resource Planner for the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) who provides technical advice and networking support.

Terry Schwan (OMNR)

Terry's is the management forester for the Guelph District office of the OMNR. Terry provides advice and logistical support for forestry related projects.

Mitch Wilson (OMNR)

Mitch is the area supervisor for the Guelph Area Team of the OMNR, and provides logistical support to the council.

Staff:

Larry Halyk

Larry has been the stewardship coordinator since September 2001. He has over 20 years of experience in the OMNR as an aquatic biologist.
