Council Profile

The Northumberland Stewardship Council is a group of volunteer landowners and agency representatives dedicated to the wise use (stewardship) of forest, soil, wildlife and water resources on private land.

Council Vision:

People working together to advocate and implement stewardship on private lands.

Goal of Stewardship Program

  • To ensure the long term sustainability of the land, its resources and the amenities it provides;
  • To improve and sustain the long term health of our forest, land and water resources;
  • To service landowner needs with respect to our natural resources with and through the community;
  • To protect and enhance natural ecosystems and aquatic and terrestrial wildlife habitat.

Goals of Stewardship Council:

  • To advocate and implement the Stewardship program;
  • To develop working relationships and partnerships in the community for accomplishing the Stewardship program

Ontario Stewardship is a program of the Ministry of Natural Resources. Each County is provided with a Stewardship Coordinator, office support and seed funding. The community group of volunteers provide the direction on Council programs and activities.
