September 17th Twilight Tour

Council Profile

The Norfolk Land Stewardship Council (NLSC) is composed of people who have an interest in conservation and land care. They represent landowners and land interests in Norfolk County and volunteer their time out of concern for local land stewardship issues. The mission, focus and terms of reference of the NLSC were identified by the inaugural members and are based on the following principles:

  • Respect for private land ownership;
  • Working together in the community to pool available resources;
  • Helping people to help themselves.

Our Mission:

  • To promote a land stewardship ethic that sustains resources like air, water, soil, forests and wildlife.
  • To partner with those private landowners, community groups and resource agencies that respect private land ownership, to advance and implement practical and sustainable resource management.
  • To access resources, coordinate land stewardship "voices" and develop mechanisms that provide needed services for private landowners in Norfolk County.

Our Focus:

  • Locate and make available to landowners, information on stewardship programs, services and grants.
  • Find out what is needed in our community to increase compatibility between humans and nature.
  • Act on stewardship issues of importance to the community that are not being addressed.
