Council Profile

The Grey County Forest Stewardship Network is a diverse group representing many of the land use issues within the county. Many members represent more than one group at the table. Since agriculture is such a large industry within Grey County the council has four farmers on the council, as well as a maple syrup farmer, a retired Ministry of Agriculture and Food employee, and a representative from Grey County Agricultural Services. At least two members belong to the Sydenham Sportsman's Association and Onatrio federation of Anglers and Hunters as well as an executive director of the Sydenham Conservation Foundation. At least two belong to the Owen Sound Field Naturalists and Ontario Nature. We have a member representing the tourism industry in Grey County and a member representing absentee landowners in Grey County. We have a forestry expert from each of the two local Conservation Authorities, a member who sits on County Council, an area manager from the Ministry of Natural Resources and a representative from the Wetland Habitat Fund and the Grey County Woodlot Association.
