Beautiful Grey County is snuggled against the southern end of Georgian Bay and is blessed with ample forests, lakes, cold water streams and wetlands. Grey County is the fourth largest county in Ontario and approximately 35% of that area is covered by forests. Agriculture is a huge industry in Grey County and crop or pasture fields make up the bulk of the rest of the dry landscape in Grey County. Grey County is the largest procducer of Apples in Ontario, and the second largest producer of beef. The farmers in Grey County can be proud of their commitment and accomplishments to maintainig the natural beauty of Grey County. The number of participants in the Forest 2020 tree planting program, and the Environmental Farm Plan are among the top in Ontario!

The Grey County Forest Stewardship Network are another group of people dedicated to maintaing the natural splendor of Grey County for its citizens enjoyment and well being. Made up of Grey County residents from many different backgrounds these folks come together to bring and review ideas about how to maintain and enhance the natural resources of Grey County.

The Grey County Forest Stewardship Network was founded in 1996 under the Ministry of Natural Resources Ontario Stewardship Program which blankets all stewardship councils in Ontario. This inovative program gives people active in the community the oportunity to instruct what environmental projects are most needed and undertaken in their county. The Ministry of Natural Resources dedicates one employee per council to work solely on the councils behalf, this person is called the coordinator of the council.
