How Does the Council Operate?
The
Durham Land Stewardship Council meets monthly. It does not duplicate or replace the efforts of existing community groups, agencies or associations. Its mandate is to encourage and support agency co-operation and partnerships that positively influence land management practices. The DLSC has a Stewardship Coordinator, paid by the Ministry of Natural Resources, who works directly with and on behalf of the Council to facilitate projects and partnerships within the community. In addition, the Coordinator ensures that the Council has access to scientific and technical information through the MNR and partner agencies to support Coucil projects and other private and community stewardship initiatives.
