The Brant Resource Stewardship Network (BRSN) was formed in April 1996. The Council is comprised of volunteers within the community who share a common interest and commitment to resource stewardship. The Council currently consists of twelve members who represent a variety of landowners and land interests within the community.

Mission Statement

The Brant Resource Stewardship Network, through cooperative efforts, promotes responsible care of natural resources within the community for a prosperous and sustainable environment.

Goals:

· Facilitate community based projects that instil an appreciation of the land and resources in Brant County, Brantford and Six Nations Reserve

· Create awareness of the value, and methods of responsible resource management

· Develop individual and community responsibility, and involvement, in caring for the land and resources

· Build capacity within the community for self help in land and resource stewardship

About the Stewardship Council

Members Make a Difference

Each volunteer member of the Brant Resource Stewardship Network (BRSN) is involved in council projects each year. Council members drive many miles and contribute many hours to work on stewardship-related activities. The Council does not pay an honorarium to volunteers. Council members are simply dedicated to making Brant a better place to live.

Our Investment in Youth

Ontario Stewardship and the BRSN are dedicated to getting young people involved in the stewardship of natural resources. The Environmental Leadership programs at schools, Grand River Envirothon, Brantford/Brant Children's Water Festival and Ontario Stewardship Ranger Program are some of the ways we do this. If your school or group are planning or working on a project that promotes youth involvement in stewardship and resource management, give us a call. Perhaps we can help.

The Network is Looking for Partners!

If your group has a project or idea that will have a positive environmental or ecological outcome, consider inviting the stewardship council to become a partner. The council may have access to experts in resource management, funding, and a wealth of experience turning ideas into actions.
