Mission Statement

To promote the wise use of natural resources on private lands in the Bancroft area.

Council Mandate

The BASC mandate is to ensure that community groups and private landowners have access to information, resources, and skills training to develop, implement and sustain projects that promote the wise use of natural resources and contribute to a healthy and vibrant community. This task is accomplished by providing support and resources to groups and landowners that are interested and committed to natural resource stewardship. Council directed and supported projects are based on the concepts of building community capacity, partnerships, and collaborative resource management.

Objectives

• Respond to community issues and concerns related to natural resources
• Education with respect for landowner rights and through influence, not control
• Promote resource sustainability and a healthy environment for present and future generations
• Promote and initiate natural resource based projects through community partnerships
• Balance social and economic values with the natural resource based economy
• Provide a forum for discussion and investigation of issues relating to private land stewardship
